AI in medicine, explained for everyoneGeneral information only, not medical advice · Our standards

How we make this

AI tools help us research, draft and check How Far pages. Here is what that means today.

What AI does

Finding studies and regulator records, summarising them, drafting plain-English copy, and running AI-assisted source checks that compare each claim with the source it links to.

What a person does

The person who runs How Far decides what is published and approves changes. They are not a doctor, and the site does not publish their name.

What is not done yet

No page has been reviewed by a clinician. AI-assisted checks are not independent and not clinical, and a human check of every claim is still pending. Each page's label says how it was checked.

We never present AI output as a person's words, an expert's view or a real medical image. See also our editorial standards.
